Director of Food Innovation
Dr. Heather Hayes graduated at Queen’s University with a PhD in ruminant nutrition. She joined the feed industry on graduating in 1990 where she worked as a multispecies nutritionist, later specializing in poultry nutrition.
Heather joined Devenish in 1993 as Poultry R & D manager & was responsible for the design & management of the company’s Poultry Performance House where nutritional trials are carried out. More recently she took on the role of Food Innovation Director in Devenish with responsibility for developing feeding programs to enhance the nutritional & eating quality of agricultural produce. The Food Innovation team successfully brought Omega chicken to market in June 2016 in partnership with Moy Park & Waitrose.
Heather is from a farming background & lives with her husband & 3 sons in Lisburn farming dairy, free range hens & renewal energy. During 26 years experience in the feed industry, Heather has become widely acknowledged for her ability to innovate and for her practical knowledge of the industry.
